Becoming Kaylene Packer

After things calmed down from the wedding and party, I wanted to take my marriage license into the DMV to get my named changed. Imagine my frustration after waiting close to two hours, only to be told that they wouldn't recognize my marriage license here in Utah. (And the lady was mean...and almost disgusted by me.) I felt horrible! I was extremely sad. I knew that they wouldn't recognize my marriage already, but I thought for some reason that I could do a name change! (Insert my angry tears here.)

That didn't stop me. I took matters into my own hands and decided that I was going to do a legal name change! It was that important to me! So, I got all of the paperwork together over the next few weeks and applied for a legal name change. I had to pay a good amount of money and meet with a judge (which was intimidating), but when it was all said and done, it was so worth it! I was Kaylene Packer, and it felt amazing! It's the little things that can mean the most. I remember getting my official driver's license in the mail a few weeks later and it felt incredible. (I hated my new picture, but it was a happy feeling seeing my new name!)

Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes them meaningful.
