Connecting With The Donor Family

After I felt like I had my mind and wits back together again, I was itching to see if Boston had any donor siblings and was very excited get in contact with them. Happily, there were a few. California Cryobank has a sibling registry page that you can write back and forth on with the other parents that have the same donor children, but it isn't very user-friendly. I wanted something more intimate. I was ready to reach out and see if any of them were interested in connecting outside of our donor's sibling registry page with a private Facebook group I created. My friend, that gave us the info on getting pregnant in the beginning, told me about how she loved being in contact with her donor family; sharing pictures and stories through their own private group on Facebook. I thought it was a great idea and an awesome way to get to know the families and be more connected.

So, I started our own private group. There were only a few families at the time on our donor sibling registry page, but I knew there would be more eventually and hoped they would reach out in time. I wanted a safe place for us to come together and share our stories when they felt ready. As it is completely optional, I knew there would be several that used our donor that would probably never reach out and join the group. Although it makes me sad, I totally understand and respect their choice. That being said, I was anxious to meet the ones who were open to the idea. Luckily, little by little our group started to grow. It started with just me and one other family and now it has grown into five families. Between the five families there are seven siblings, including my two, and they are spread out all across America. Our donor is no longer available (he was super popular), which means he has maxed out on how many families they allow (I think 25) per donor. Can you imagine how many babies there will be in time between, let's say, 25 families?! It is crazy and exciting for me to think about . I can't wait to see what our donor family looks like in ten years!

I love having this second family to talk to, relate to, and connect to. It has brought me so much joy! I love seeing all the pictures of our babies and seeing their similarities. Our donor has a strong gene, and all of the kids in our group resemble each other in a lot of ways. So far, they all have the bright blue eyes, light skin, and strong personalities.

I know these kids are going to change the world! They are all so incredible, and I can't wait to see what the world holds for them.

This is Boston and Halle last summer (2016). She is the first of donor family that I knew about. Her mom, Sommer, and her came out to Utah last summer! It was so awesome to see them together!! CAN YOU SEE THE RESEMBLANCE?? I mean they look like twins! They are less than a month a part! Boston was born in December and she was born in January 2013.
